On a dark night on open land, the wind behind our backs passes by in an instant, an instant long enough for the bog grasses to sway from side to side and ripple across the land towards the mountains’ darkness.
The grasses’ blond shades catch any slither of light while the distant mountains glow a cool violet-blue under the stars.
I’d love to read your comment.
Wonderful, John. I love the richness of the depth of color; and what a splendid night sky! I would love to be there and feel that wind and gaze at those stars! Well done, indeed!!
Hello Terry,
I was pretty happy with how that night sky turned out too. thanks very much. I wanted to achieve that richness of colour but also make it still have the subdued lighting of a nocturne. Yes it would be nice to be there Terry!
Aloha John,
It brings to my mind , All in all; cosmic dust to infinite Light.
A celebration of totality
Wonderfully masterful, John,
Aloha,
Michael
Hello Michael,
Thank you very much, ‘All in all’ most certainly!
Beautiful scene to bathe the eyes and spirit, thanks John
Thank you very much Julie.
When you mention about the bog grasses under the darkness – the Irish folk tales from childhood come to mind of mischievous bog lanterns mirrored high in the black desert of night luring the innocent from their polarised paths to their fate. A gorgeous enchanting painting John!
Hello Irene,
Ah yes those magical lights on the bog as you say mirrored in the night sky. I am glad it brought back those special spooky memories of childhood 🙂
Hello John, what a beautifully executed sky! Quite magical. As always I can imagine walking in the soft springy ground through the waving grass. There is a striking contrast between the upper and lower part of the painting which makes the night sky all the more dramatic and mysterious. Lovely.
Hello Chris,
I agree the upper and lower parts are very different in terms of energy, light and dark, texture and movement, all these added together gives the painting unusual feel I think as you say ‘mysterious’. The sky was very enjoyable trying to stretch the colour out further but still keep its nocturnal quality. Thank you
