The Golden Field, ©John O’Grady, 2013
Oil on Panel, 8″x 10″
SOLD – A limited edition print is available
Like my last few paintings, “The Golden Field” has a limited palette of earth colours.
For the sky, I added ultramarine blue and titanium white with a touch of alizarin crimson.
The central mass of gold was a job to get right.
I set out to find the right intensity of colour to harmonise with the rest of the painting,
not too strong as it would overpower.
I settled upon cadmium yellow deep with a touch of burnt sienna, alizarin crimson and titanium White.
Do let me know what you think, I look forward to reading your comment.
This is my all time favourite of yours, beautiful! I feel that I can reach out and touch the grasses in the foreground a very moody piece.
Thank you Diana I am glad you like it. Oh! the trouble I had in capturing the foreground, so a big sigh of relief on my part.
kind regards
John

Hi Frauke,
Thank you for your comment. I do like the idea of you creeping into the painting for a walk around. I’m glad it brightened a grey day in Hamburg.
Kind regards
