Till the last ray gleams !
Love your work. Do you ever do painting demonstrations or classes?
Hello Kim,
You are very welcome to the blog and thank you for your comment. Till the last Ray Gleams’ that is a piece full of energy and colour. I don’t do demonstrations or classes at the moment but it might be something to look at in the future. Here is a link to a couple of videos that I have made in the past https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJqqAL-jaE4wTECTz0Pdp7Q
Can’t decide between 2 and 6 love them all.
Hello Ida,
Thank you very much for your comment. I think No2 is one of my favourites too, I can see similarities between two and six in the light and palette, don’t you think?
Dear John,
First, I like main of your paintings, which does not make a choice easy for me.
What to say… I like skies, shades, mist, shadows, reflects, and many other details…
(I am an “amateur” photograph myself)
I don’t like as much strong contracts or saturated colours .
In your 6 paintings above, I will consider the last one, tonight, ( because of my own state of mine right now) for the one I prefer.
But it tooks me lots of seeings before daring to make a choice -that could be different tomorrow as I like them all.
I am not sure to make me understand well : “sorry for my French” LOL (an expresssion I learnt during my life in Ireland! No sorry for my English which is poorer now. Anyway, I take advantage of this message to wish you a great new year. And please, go on with your talended paintings and your kindly sharing. xxx Dom
Hello Dom,
Thank you ever so much for your thoughts on the painting, it is always great to hear from you. I have seen some of your lovely photos of Pic st Loup. No6 it is Dom, you are the second person to go for this one. I wish you and all your family godd health and happiness in 2017.
Well, so many lovely ones to choose from John but it has to be ‘The Starry Plough’ for me! I find it powerful, yet subtle and uplifting and it ‘speaks’ to me of the place of humanity in the vast universe. Infinity. Also, I know it has a symbolism related to the Irish struggle for independence which adds to the emotion.
Hello Chris,
It doesn’t surprise me that you went for this one, it is very much in my heart as well
Out of the six you have chosen John, the one I feel portrays most the wolf in your work is “The Silver Sea”. It’s panoramic layout being the exception rather than the rule. We are drawn along the liquid silver pathway through the clouds of our anxieties to a deeper divine consciousness within us. It could also be named “Heavens Gateway”!
Hello Irene,
Thank you very much for your choice. ‘The Silver Sea’ is as you say the ‘exception rather than the rule’ its format as I recall was something I really struggled with and I picked it up and put it down several times. I was happy with the result but was on the list as it was a test in perseverance. I like your title ‘Heavens Gateway’ very apt
The Starry Plough is definitely my favourite too. I love the detail and scale of the painting, highlighting and emphasing what tiny specks we humans are within the great universe. Well done John
Hello Pat,
Thank you for your vote, the Starry Plough it is. I know what you mean about the tiny specks we are, when I was painting the lights of the city I was thinking each light was one of those humans you speak of, dwarfed by the heavens above.
I like You Are Everything III in particular. Magnificent towering cumulus clouds dominating the landscape below.
Hello Robert,
Thank you very much, I think this one gets joint most popular along with the Starry Plough painting.
Happy New Year to you I hope 2017 is a creative painting year for you
Hi John, I think ‘the silver sea’ is my favourite one of these but I have many favourites. Keep them coming! Best wishes for the New Year, eoin
Thanks very much Eoin, all the best for the New Year too
