In a field in the Irish Midlands, the sky is ablaze with the last of the sun’s colours.
The atmosphere is subdued and reflective.
Long shadows fall across the fields.
Dark blue and powder blue trees stand out against the light-filled sky.
All is quiet and peaceful on the cusp between day and night.
A magical moment…
I’d love to hear what you think about this painting.
This painting appeals to me just now with its quiet, reflective atmosphere of twilight as the door closes on another day. It’s soft brushwork enhances this mood as lines and contours become blurred, accentuated through shadowy blues and violets. It encourages thoughts of past times as the sun sets in a sky ablaze with beauty.
Thank you Christine for your thoughtful comment. Yes the fading light alters our perception and forms become diffused and blurred in the fading light
