The Violet Sky, ©John O’Grady, 2013
Oil on Panel, 5″x 7″
This painting shows the newly risen moon over the bog at twilight.
The arrangement in violet, copper brown and silver started off with an underpainting of cool dark blue.
Then, I painted over with a highly textured warm palette of earth colours and a warm violet sky to allow
some cool under painting to show through above the skyline which I feel gives added interest to the painting.
The silver moon, the only cool colour and the brightest, glows as it floats in the warmth of the violet.
Your new painting is beautiful and I find your paintings very inspiring. It is lovely to share your journey, thank you.
