Thank you for your support, your comments and for following my work.
It means a lot to me.
I find this painting such a redemptive burst of hope and joy during a dismal time for our planet. Absolutely beautiful, John. Thank you.
Hello Rachel,
Thank you for your beautiful thoughts on the painting, that means a great deal to me,that it brought such positive thoughts to mind.
My first thought when viewing this, John, was “ending and beginning” — with the sense of a new start emerging where the land and sky converge on the bright hoirzon. There is poignancy and wistfulness in it (in the blue foreground and the shadowed clouds), leading the eye to the glow cast by the sun. I love how the blurred, dark trees contrast with the sharpness of the cloud forms. A very fitting, tender and eloquent image to mark the turning of the year.
Thank you for all the beauty you have brought into our lives, and best wishes for a peaceful and inspiration-filled 2016.
Hello Jo,
You are very welcome, here is to a great 2016 for you too full of good things. Your thoughts on the painting are as always insightful. I made a piece this time last year and tried to infuse it with that sense of ‘wistfulness and poignancy that you spoke of. I wanted to try and capture that feeling again, so your words were pleasing to read. I also wanted to mark the new year with something beautiful and emotional to mark that ‘turning’’
You know how much ‘Turning of the Year,I’ means to us John. In this second one I detect a more delicate poignancy but it has a similar sense of expectation so appropriate for the start of a new year – none of us know what lies beyond but that light is infused with hope .I too would like to thank you for all you do to enrich our lives.
Hello Christine,
You are very welcome. Yes I agree it has a more poignant feel to it than the first one, which is perhaps a little bit more festive in feel. Thank you for your poetic insights over the last year
Lovely painting John, Happy New Year to you, eoin
Thanks Eoin, Happy New Year to you too
