This is morning looking across the bog when light is diffused and shapes like the distant tree line are shrouded in mist and have a milky white quality.
The soft, hazy light of morning is so subtle and delicate. I especially like the fringe of trees on the horizon and the suggestion of distance in the background hills. The colours are beautifully balanced to create a special atmosphere.
Thank you Chris for your comment, the balancing of the colours that you mentioned has I think a little bit to do with violet in various mixes running through the whole piece, hopefully bringing it all together

The transition from more vibrant to more muted versions of the same hues from foreground to background is very effective in conveying distance and leading the eye out toward the horizon. Really beautiful. You have also painted the air, again, here.
I may be completely off base, but you seem to be particularly inspired by morning scenes lately, John. Is it spring fever?
I think it might be “spring fever” Josephine. There is definitely something in the air here, I hope it is the same there! I am drawn towards atmospheres and how our senses respond to them, so it’s great to know that I captured a little bit of that elusive air, thank you
