I was talking with someone from Donegal the other day and he mentioned how
the bog was turning a beautiful rich orange colour.
I responded by saying it sounded like a perfect subject for a painting.
Remembering the glow of the bog in the evening under a brooding sky became the starting
point of this latest painting.
Power & energy are the words that spring to mind – loving the colours
Thank you Jan, I think these Autumnal skies are having an effect on me
I think Jan is right, it is full of ‘power and energy’.
This is incredible John. It is a heavy sky but I like the fact that there is an uplifting glow of light on the horizon. The colour and tone contrast so well and the water in the foreground adds a spark energy.
thanks Chris I am glad you like it, trying to keep things free. I am really enjoying working on these skies, trying to form something cohesive from abstract marks, great fun
Your enjoyment comes through somehow; it is fresh and flowing if that makes any sense?
Yes it does, we’ll see where it takes us
spot on John!
The red / orange is great and the purple sky magnificent!
Its true, the bog turns orange in October /November – its a type of twisty grass that changes and catches the light
Wonderful
Congratulations!
Liz
Thank you Liz I am glad my memory still serves me well
