I’ve made a few paintings of the bogland high in the Wicklow mountains. Nearly all convey a hushed moment to commune with nature.

Up there, you can hear the wind rustling through the bog grasses on this wild rolling landscape open to the elements.

This painting explores similar themes when snow covered the bogland in a white blanket showing-off its biomorphic beauty.

So I painted simple shapes and marks with a muted palette. They whisper like a breeze whispers on a still evening.

The silence of the place is palpable. Memory holds the solitude.

The moon and the evening star celebrate this moment like choreographed dancers moving across the sky.

I’d love to hear what you think about the painting.

P.S. I’m also selling Christmas cards showing this image.

I’m ordering the Christmas cards (left blank inside for your personalised message) this Thursday 2nd November. Pre-order some here (you’ll get them after mid November).
