Description

The Wicklow mountains in Ireland are covered in parts with bogland. Bog heather thrives and carpet the ground with pink and purple that change shade with the seasons and even throughout the day.

At the end of an afternoon walking one late summer, the sun setting behind the mountains was ablaze with red, orange and yellow colours that worked beautifully with the pink-purple bog heather.

That was pure energy.

Some time later, back in the studio, I remembered that feeling and sought to recreate it with oils.

This painting is life affirming, don’t you think?
